I wrote a Book!
Hello again Traveler! I have good news! After a lot of work and time management my children’s book is now live on Amazon! I am officially a published author! How neat is that? Who thought we would be here? Not me! haha.
Why a children’s book? Honestly…..I couldn’t tell you! All I know is that the moment I got Magnus in my life, I just felt like I should make a children’s book based on him. It was just such a strong feeling that I had that I just couldn’t ignore! That’s usually how I live my life anyway, following whatever direction whispers to me. Tuomas Holopanien, the force behind Finnish band Nightwish, wrote a song called “Something whispered follow me” and I tell you what….that is how I’ve always moved through life. I highly recommend listening to it. It is a favorite of mine. I might even link it below!
Every piece of this book was done entirely by me. Every illustration, every word. It was a labor of love and a huge learning experience! I had to learn how to use my new Wacom Cintique 16, I had to learn how to use Adobe Fresco, and I had to learn how to do digital illustrations in a way that didn’t look like shit, felt child like, but still were true to Magnus and the story. That was the big chunk of the work involved.
After that I had to figure out ISBN numbers, KDP formatting, how to upload it, how to publish it, how to price it etc….
After all that was done…I had a final product in my hands. And I was so proud of myself. As someone who has infinite ideas but finite time it’s always a battle to actual finish things. But I did it! I finished it and I did it ahead of schedule.
This was such a cool process and the final product is something that has sparked many more ideas in my brain. So this is the first book that I have ever written. It most likely won’t be the last. Now will every book be a children’s book? Doubt it. I’d love to do a novel.
But for that I would have to gain yet another level of confidence! It’s very nerve wracking putting yourself out there but…it cane be very rewarding too.
